LiveArea Wins Mirakl Top Partner Award

When you partner with the right company, everyone wins — most of all shared clients. Nowhere is this better illustrated than in our award-winning alliance with Mirakl and our collaboration on the Hudson’s Bay Marketplace.

Launched earlier this year, Marketplace – based on Mirakl’s industry-leading solution — will bring more than 500 new sellers to thebay.com by the end of 2021 and introduce new and significantly expanded category offerings.

LiveArea was honored this week with Mirakl’s partner award for our work with Hudson’s Bay. Announced at Mirakl’s 2021 Platform Pioneers Summit, the “Partner to Win” category award recognizes a “partner that has consistently supported and empowered Platform Pioneers in their mission to transform their businesses with enterprise marketplaces while demonstrating an expert-level understanding of Mirakl’s marketplace technology.”

A true gamechanger

The marketplace is a true gamechanger for Hudson’s Bay. The retailer now can react to consumer trends, expand its assortment and onboard quality sellers from around the world in a matter of days and at a time when online shopping has more than doubled in Canada.

New categories the retailer will expand into include pet supplies; books; stationery; health and wellness; gourmet food; electronics including televisions, headphones, computers, and smart home devices such as security cameras and baby monitors; vintage designer handbags, and sports equipment, including outdoor gear as well as sports nutrition.

As part of Hudson’s Bay’s digital-first strategy, the marketplace is fully integrated so that customers have the same exceptional experience they are accustomed to on thebay.com and the Hudson’s Bay App, including the ability to earn and redeem Hudson’s Bay Reward points on all marketplace items.

Statistics released by Hudson’s Bay show an impressive trajectory. Thebay.com generated about 1 billion Canadian dollars in 2020, excluding returns, and 25% growth is expected this year. The website attracts 220 million visits annually, nearly half of whom come from mobile, and has 5.7 million loyalty customers.

The launch of Marketplace follows the re-launch of thebay.com on Salesforce Commerce Cloud, a project LiveArea completed in April 2020. Hudson’s Bay leveraged the Mirakl Marketplace Connector for Salesforce Commerce Cloud, which combines the power and functionality of dozens of APIs into a single, plug-and-play package making it even easier for organizations to get a marketplace up and running quickly and reduce the burden of ongoing maintenance. As the first ever implementation leveraging Mirakl’s SFCC cartridge, our teams collaborated tightly to ensure a successful integration.
